Journalism Club is for UniMelb students with a passion for the world of journalism. We know that taking your first steps can be tough and the club plans to organise industry networking nights and skills workshops to help you put your best foot forward.

We want to provide students with a means to collaborate with each other both formally and informally, through peer review sessions as well as social events. The club fosters critical thinking and investigative skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

We are currently working on a publication focussed on video and digital journalism and would love to hear from you if you have any ideas.

Our club aims:

  • To provide opportunities for students to develop their media skills with a focus on digital media.
  • To allow for students to build connections with industry professionals and other media figures, growing their network within the industry.
  • To encourage and coach students to use critical thinking and investigative skills to research issues that interest them in an objective manner.
  • To provide students with the opportunity to collaborate with one another and develop their skills together in workshops and peer review sessions.
  • To create a magazine in which students can collaborate and present their work in a written format.
  • To create a platform for students to collaborate and present their work where electronic video media is the format of delivery.
