Barkly Theatre presents: Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay, adapted by Tom Wright.
1900. Three Australian schoolgirls on a picnic to the remote Hanging Rock abscond from their group. They are last seen heading towards the beckoning Rock. In Tom Wright’s chilling adaptation of Joan Lindsay’s classic novel, five performers struggle to solve the mystery of the girls and their teacher.
Barkly Theatre acknowledges the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nations as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live, work, learn and create. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
Contains simulated violence, strong use of blackouts, haze, discussions of sexual violence.
A comprehensive pack about content, production elements and expectations is available upon request. If you have any questions or wish to access a copy please reach out to barklytheatre@gmail.com.
