Food and Beverage Attendant

The Welfare Support (Food and Beverage Attendant) facilitates the delivery of food service across a Welfare breakfast events for UMSU. This may include supporting the successful running of catered events, and provides training, advice and support to other casual employees and/or event volunteers

Key duties

  • Event support
    • Oversee the set-up, pack-down, cleaning and food and drinks service of UMSU daily breakfasts;
    • Operate and maintain cooking equipment including preparation, cooking and serving food;
    • Supervise food and beverage volunteers in the safe operation of UMSU Kitchen equipment and food service;
    • Monitor stock movements and stock records and report these back to Welfare Office Bearers and UMSU Coordinator, Volunteering and Student Representation

     

    Ad hoc duties

    • Provide training, advice and support to other casual employees and/or volunteers on the operation, set-up, pack-down, cleaning and maintenance of cooking equipment
    • UMSU Kitchen and Compliance
    • Monitor UMSU Kitchen facilities supplies and report back to Coordinator, Volunteering ad Student Representation
    • Ensure food supply in the UMSU Kitchen is rotated and out of date food removed
    • Oversee daily clean of the UMSU Kitchen and associated record keeping

    Monitor refrigeration temperatures in the UMSU kitchen and complete relevant food records

Desirable skills and qualifications:

  • Previous experience in hospitality/food service and/or event assistance;
  • Demonstrated skills and commitment to high-level customer service;
  • Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to show initiative and flexibility;
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of interpreting and applying guidelines, practices and procedures;
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to students and young people.
  • A Safe Food Handling Certificate (SITXFSA001)
  • A valid Victorian Working With Children Check;
