Media and Communications Students Society

MACSS was established in 2011 and after a short hiatus, reaffiliated in 2022. It is a community for UniMelb students with a passion and interest in all things media. The society seeks to create an environment where budding journalists, writers and editors, public relations specialists, and marketers can build professional contacts, make like-minded friends, and get the most out of their academic experience.

We plan to organise industry events, bring in experienced speakers, coordinate skills workshops, social events, and so much more! Not to mention, the age-old uni tradition of a good old pub night! We also have a newsletter in the works which will publish opportunities, and broadcast several relevant events to students with an interest in media. 

We also have our yearly publication, Escritor, or, Wasteland, as it was named in 2018. Keep an eye out for when we start recruiting subeditors and open for submissions! Check out the past editions on our issuu (Escritor 2016). 

Club Aims:

• To create a forum to edit, support and promote media and comm student’s class and personal writing.
• To create a network of past, current and future media and comm students and enthusiasts.
• To develop a social space for those who want to gain entry into the media and communications work and study fields
• To develop and refine the necessary professional skills for a career in media and communications.
