UMSU INTL: GRAND GETAWAY

For the first time ever, UMSU International is introducing Grand Getaway, where we will be bringing YOU on a cruise along the Yarra River to Williamstown! We will be exploring some of the most iconic landmarks and tour around the suburb. On our way back, we will be heading to South Melbourne Market for some yummy eateries and you’ll get to try some fresh seafood there!

Nervous about starting uni? Come along for some board games, card games, trivia, food, and more! The UMSU People of Colour Department and UMSU International have teamed up to bring you an event where socializing is made easy, because let’s face it, competition brings out all of our true selves.

Note: This event is autonomous to POC and POC International Students.

Scoring 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 100% in our hearts, this screening of Crazy Rich Asians is one that you won’t want to miss. Come mingle with other PoC students (who knows maybe you’ll find your Nick Young) and enjoy the free bao, popcorn and drinks tab!

If you want to know yourself better, understand your girlfriend or boyfriend better or just simply want to build a deeper relationship with your friends, then come and join the perfect conference just for you! There will be a professional DISC assessor (mandarin speaker) holding the conference, with food, snacks and drinks all for free.

As a special SummerFest treat, we’re bringing you a free show from Alex Lahey! Get around the first Tuesday BBQ & BEVS gig of 2018!

You’ll know Alex’s tunes from the catchy single “You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me” which scored Pitchfork’s Best New Track award in 2016. Make sure you see this free show before she heads off on the next world tour!

Alongside that, your mates at UMSU Activities will be serving up tasty BBQ and other treats as well as delicious, refreshing free beers/ciders.

Campus Sustainability Walking Tour

Come along on a walking tour with the Environment Department and find out how UMSU keeps it sustainable on campus!
Beginning at the new Bike Co-Op site, and making tracks towards the Community Garden, Food Co-Op, Enviro Office, with a bit of DIY planting, sustainable + delicious cooking, and activism history thrown in along the way, we’ll finish up the tour with a picnic in Systems Garden with the Environment Collective.

Come find our stall on South Lawn during Carnival Day! We’ll be serving up vegan and GF rice paper rolls and treats with our friends from the Fair Food Challenge, Melbourne Uni Food Co-op, as well as being the hub for the Community Garden and Fossil Free and Lockout Lockheed campaigns.
