UMSU Host Program Volunteer Registration Deadline!

The UMSU Host Program is back smaller, more COVID-safe but better than ever.

UMSU’s Host Program is all about welcoming new students to uni life here at the University of Melbourne. It’s a program run by students, for students, taking place during orientation week alongside the Melbourne Peer Mentoring Program.

You probably remember your first weeks at uni (and maybe even your Host Tour); scary, bewildering and confusing! As a knowledgeable unimelb student (a.k.a not a jaffy), this is your chance to change all that. Pass on your secret tips for hacking uni from the top coffee spots to the quietest libraries or even just how to boss at online uni.

As a volunteer host, you will be leading Peer Mentor groups on a faculty-specific tour of the campus. This will include fun getting-to-know-you games and will be a great opportunity to better get to know new students within your faculty.

You will be specially matched to lead a tour of first years from your faculty so invite your friends to sign-up as well and reconnect with those long-forgotten uni mates on campus.

In these ~uNpRECedEntED tImEs~ this is a terrific opportunity to get involved on campus. You’ll get sweet merch, meet new peeps (in person!) and maybe even clock some hours towards your Leaders in Community Award!

Don’t miss this chance to get back on campus for one day before you finish your degree!

Sign up before midnight on the 27th of Januaryhttp://bit.ly/UMSUHost21

The UMSU Host Program acknowledges the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nations as the Traditional Owners of the land upon which we live, work, and learn. We pay our respects to the Elders past, present, and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Get acquainted with all of the awesome Clubs & Societies!

Taking place online, this expo comes to life through chat rooms, prerecorded video and live streaming video. Each UMSU Club and Society will have its own Hopin booth, so you can cruise around as you please and interact as you like — it’s up to you!

You can also check out a full list of UMSU’s Clubs and Societies in the ‘Get Involved’ section of the UMSU website here.

Meet your student representatives and learn more about your UMSU departments!

It would be kind of weird if the student union wasn’t actually run by students, right? There are a bunch of student representatives who work around the clock to ensure the activities and opportunities available to you are as fun and relevant as possible. Basically every area of uni life (and life in general) is covered by one of these departments. Hosted on Hopin you can cruise around the virtual booths to chat with your student reps, learn more about UMSU’s departments or discover the perfect Club for you to find your new uni pals!
