Meet your student representatives and learn more about your UMSU departments!

It would be kind of weird if the student union wasn’t actually run by students, right? There are a bunch of student representatives who work around the clock to ensure the activities and opportunities available to you are as fun and relevant as possible. Basically every area of uni life (and life in general) is covered by one of these departments.

Keep an eye on the UMSU SummerFest page and follow UMSU on on Facebook and Instagram to stay across important updates, free events you don’t want to miss, and the occasional spicy meme.

Hello everyone! We’re inviting all students of colour and First Nations students to join us on the online community connections program on discord. This is where we will have weekly zoom sessions in light of the recent public health crisis.

Isolation can be hard, so we’re presenting this as a way for us to stay in touch and to have a platform where we can support each other. There will, of course, be some fun activities and discussions on the representation of People of Colour and First Nations individuals on a variety of media platforms. So whether you love media or just want to have a chat, this place is definitely for you!!

Note: This space is autonomous to People of Colour and First Nations students only.

The University of Melbourne Student Union is located in the city of Melbourne, on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and future and acknowledge that this land was stolen and sovereignty was never ceded.

UMSU Activities presents: Trivia ft. Zoom

Join the event here!

Just because campus is closed, doesn’t mean you can escape your friends at UMSU Activities! In lieu of St Paddy’s Day Trivia, we are creating an enormous ONLINE Zoom trivia, bringing together the sharpest UniMelb minds (wherever they may be).

So, why sit idly at home when you can join your peers for an evening of fun, facts and friends? Just log onto Zoom when the clock strikes 8pm and get ready to write! Snacks, beers and PJs are highly recommended. 🍻👭🙌🏽

NOTE: As we are all aware, the economic damage of COVID-19 on small businesses is particularly significant. To show our solidarity and support, all prizes will be bought from local businesses, giving you the chance to strengthen our community.

NOTE #2: Zoom Pro can only accomodate 100 people, so we will be operating on a first come first served basis. Log on quickly to avoid missing out!

UMSU Activities acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional owners of the land on which our University stands. We acknowledge that the land was stolen, sovereignty was never ceded and that no apology can give the land back.

Where we welcome our Leaders for the year as they step up to serve! A day of planning and preparation for the year ahead!

You’ve just turned 18!

It’s now legal for you to do so many things!

You can drink now, you can buy lottery tickets, maybe you’re even on your red P’s.

But the biggest blessing of all is that you turned 18 BEFORE the federal election 2019 and you get the chance to have as much of a legal vote as your kooky uncle.

THERE IS A TWIST TO THIS. You have to be enrolled.

To help you along, we’re offering a free bev for anyone that can show us their enrolment on Thursday, 18th of April (aka the last day to be enrolled for the federal election).

It’s a no brainer – get enrolled now!

Have you ever felt helpless in tackling an issue? Textbooks are too expensive, Myki fines are unreasonable, it’s impossible to find somewhere decent to live – and climate change is slowly killing us all. Whether it’s global, national or local, anger, sadness and hopelessness are the feelings that spark real change in the world.

And that’s where the Education Public department can help.

We’re going on camp! To get away from the city, become one with ourselves (and meet others) and most importantly learn how to fix this inequality we so blatantly see.

Tickets go on sale 9th of March – it’s $50 for 3 days and 2 nights. Food, accommodation and travel all included.

Whether you’re a seasoned activist or someone with a bit of passion, we want you to come and get involved.

Please note: this event is for University of Melbourne students only
