School Strike 4 Climate (SS4C) has called a #ClimateStrike for May 21. Melbourne Uni staff and students will turn out in force to join the rally in the city. Workers and students are mobilising to demand that the Morrison Government #FundOurFutureNotGas:

1. Resource Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led solutions that guarantee land rights and care for country.
2. Fund the creation of jobs that fast track solutions to the climate crisis and help communities recover.
3. Fund Projects that transition our economy and communities to 100% renewable energy by 2030, through expanded public ownership.

Speakers list:
Dylan McConnell – Energy Scientist, NTEU & Workers 4 Climate Action Member
Srishti Chatterjee (they/them) – UMSU Women’s Officer
Callum Simpson (he/him) – Education Officer, Postgraduate Environment Network (PEN)
Brittney Henderson (she/them) – Indigenous Representative on Students’ Council
Help us spread this climate strike across our campus so we can give the school strikers a massive show of support on May 21. Get involved with the Enviro Collective and invite your friends, classmates, club mates, housemates, students, tutors and lecturers to strike on the day.

This Climate Strike is held by the UMSU Environments Department, with support from the wonderful folks from the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU), and our lovely friends from the Media, People of Colour, Women’s, Education Public and Academic, Activities, Queer, Clubs & Societies, and Welfare departments. ❤️
We acknowledge that we are based on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nations. We reaffirm that no vision of environmental justice is complete without First Nations justice. We pay our respect to their elders past and present. This land was, is and always will be, Aboriginal land. Sovereignty was never ceded.
