Women* in Dentistry Society

The Women in Dentistry Society (WIDS) is the first of its kind across Australian universities and serves as a platform to encourage networking amongst Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Bachelor of Oral Health (BoH) students who identify as female or non-binary, connecting them with women* in positions of leadership. WIDS aims to foster a sense of community to empower individuals across their education and raise awareness of important issues within the dental field. Become a member of WIDS and better your understanding of what it means to be a woman* in dentistry outside your formal degree!

Club Aims:

  1. To provide a platform to encourage networking through events and workshops involving fellow Dental (DDS) and Bachelor of Oral Health (BoH) students, successful role models within the dental profession and alumni to those whom identify as female and non-binary students
  2. To encourage and provide more opportunities for women and non-binary dental and BoH students to enter positions of leadership within the club in the midst of a field that has had a long history of misrepresentation
  3. To provide a safe space for female and non-binary dental and BoH students to share their experiences and personal journeys, equipping them with the necessary tools and strategies to face challenges unique to female/non-binary students in the evolving 21st century.
  4. To build a community of female and non-binary dental and BoH students to increase the coherency of the dental cohort and foster an empowering learning environment
  5. To help build skills essential to boost employment opportunities and success for female and non-binary dental and BoH students
