Diversity Week 2018

This is a week to celebrate all types of diversity among the student and staff population.

Run by the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) and the Faculty of Arts, we encourage everyone to get involved and help us in celebrating diversity – whether it be cultural, sexual, religious, gender, socio-economic or ability – the list is endless!

This year, UMSU’s People of Colour department will be bringing you two events as part of Diversity Week:

  • Diversity, Tokenism & White Guilt (with Doctor Yassir Morsi)
Monday, 19 March – 3-4.30pm – North Theatre, Old Arts Building
    Join us on Facebook
A lecturer in Politics at LaTrobe University, Dr Morsi will be examining the concepts of diversity and tokenism in this through-provoking talk.

  • Racism, Health & Wellbeing (with Romlie Mokak & Angeline Ferdinand)
    Wednesday, 21 March – 10-11am – Training Rooms, Level 3 Union House
    Join us on Facebook
Featuring Romlie Mokak (CEO, Lowitja Institute) and Angeline Ferdinand  (Centre for Health Policy at Melbourne School of Population & Global Health), this talk will dive deep into the often-overlooked consequences of racism and the effects it has on health and wellbeing.
