This subject was super enjoyable, although not exactly what I was expecting. It's quite heavy on theory - we spent the first few weeks learning about representation and semiotics, before unpacking concepts such as everyday life, place, and popular culture. In all of this, there's a bit of dense academic reading from old French men and modern race/gender scholars. It can be really enjoyable if you're into the content, but it can also feel sometimes like you're drowning in clouds. Some of the weeks feel a little disconnected and some of the readings feel a little pointless. Overall I enjoyed the subject, but it's not one for everyone.
