There was a good selection of plays on offer, which is definitely a bonus if you have an interest in theatre. However, the assessment involved a lot of work for very little marks in return. For example, rather than simply doing the standard two essays as you would in any other subject, you have to do a 10-15 minute presentation, a 1500 word essay and a 2500 word essay. Unlike other class presentations in other subjects, this involved a lot of research and planning which chews up a lot of your time within the semester. Furthermore, Paul Rae is a particularly harsh marker, which can make this subject a bit of a WAM killer. To be fair, he also offers a lot of constructive criticism which can be very helpful if you are interested in improving your academic writing/refining your ideas.
