With 4 lectures a week and content from both calculus 2 and Real Analysis to cover, this subject can become very difficult, especially if you fall behind. The lectures are recorded but the work the lecturer does on the blackboard (which is going through problems) is not recorded, so you have to show up to most, if not all of the lectures. The first two topics, sequences and continuity, are the hardest in the subject but if you can understand them then the rest of the subject is not that bad. The subject booklet has all of the lecture content in it and was written by Barry (the lecturer) himself. It is a must get and the questions at the end are good indicators of what he might ask on the exam. Unfortunately, there are no solutions, so if you are not entirely sure about your answers, it is best to consult your tutor or Barry. Barry will often ask you to state theorems and definitions on the exam so it is best to spend some time getting your head around them and their proofs. All in all, if you are considering doing this subject it is great subject that is very well taught but it is probably going to be your hardest subject
Very conceptually difficult subject (especially in first few weeks), but with a lot of dedication and consistent hard work, things will eventually start to click (also, most assessment is no where near as difficult as the hardest lecture examples). Barry is probably one of the best lecturers out there, going above and beyond for his students, and keeping the lectures interesting. This subject also counts as both Calculus 2 and real analysis in terms of prerequisites, so doing it can open up more options and give you more subject planning flexibility. Ultimately, a very rewarding subject if you’re willing to put in a lot of effort.
barry is the man, prepare to die with this subject, legit studied 24/7 on this and still just barely passed. makes you study like hell. if you fall behind your fked m8. tried so hard everyday getting to 9am class, arrive 20min late everyday,5 days week. at end of sem, last day get clapped for dedication always arriving 20min late. lmao. all and all remember all proofs. legit the midsem was just proof from the book, got all screwed for working on solutions
