Event Description

four people on the beach, one of them blind folded, two of them half buried in the sand

Endgame

27/04/2022 - 30/04/2022 7pm - 8:30pm

Guild Theatre, level 1, Union House

UMSU Union House Theatre

Presented by MU Modern Theatre

Written by Samuel Beckett

“Nothing is funnier than unhappiness.”

In a bare room in a bare world, four characters pass the time, the barbs they bitterly trade their only respite from the static grey of the world outside. Hamm, confined to his seat, berates Clov. Clov, unable to leave, berates Hamm. Hamm’s parents, confined to trash cans, beg for treats. Hamm, with no one else to talk to, tells them interminable stories. Like chess pieces trapped in an un-winnable stalemate, they shuffle pointlessly back and forth across the board, struggling to reach their inevitable, forever postponed, end.
