Beyond the Rehearsal Room:

an Exhibition of Theatrical Design

Online Exhibition: Call Out for Theatre Designers

Do you have a design for a show that didn’t make it to stage this semester? Looking for a way it can still be seen by others and have a chance to shine?

Union House Theatre and George Paton Gallery are seeking submissions to an online exhibition of student theatre design. We want to provide a platform for your work in whatever format it exists!

This exhibition is not about the finished product, it’s about the creative process and the behind-the-scenes steps along the way. The format for ‘Beyond the Rehearsal Room’ will be shaped by the offers that you make and respond to the submissions you put forward.

We’d particularly like to hear from designers who worked on a show to be staged in the Union or Guild Theatre, Semester 2 2021. You can have been working towards a set design, props, costumes, AV, Sound or Lighting.

The submission can include (but not be limited to):

  • Projection Art Content
  • Musical Composition
  • Set Design Drawings
  • Mood boards / inspiration boards
  • Costume Sketches
  • A filmed or virtual costume parade
  • Prop development sketches or models
  • Doodles of ideas
  • Sound source mud maps
  • Story boards and cue synopses

If you don’t have anything other than ideas in your head, then bring those and we can work with you to create something.

Fill out this FORM by midnight Tuesday 28th September to express your interest in being involved.
