こんにちは Film Society! On Friday of week 9, from 7:30 pm, we’re partnering up with the History Society, Japanese Club, Drawing and Painting Club, and Aerospace & Rocket Engineering Society to proudly present Hayao Miyazaki’s animated aeronautic biopic: ‘The Wind Rises’ (2013), aka 風立ちぬ! 🇯🇵🛩️🎨

The Wind Rises was Miyazaki’s atypical swansong before his initial (but not final!) retirement. Based on his manga of the same name, the wonderfully illustrated Studio Ghibli film covers the semi-fictionalised history of pioneering Japanese aviation engineer Jiro Horikoshi (1903-1982). Inspired by a lifelong love of flight, Horikoshi’s storied career included the creation of the A6M Zero World War II fighter plane, even as he held anti-war sentiments.

To watch his story and see in the ‘mid-sem’ break with all of us, simply wing your way to https://cytu.be/r/Film_Society on the night! After the movie winds up, we’ll fly over to Zoom for a chat!
