[Spreading the Climate Strike and our co-hosts acknowledge that this event takes place on the traditional land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and future and acknowledge that this land was stolen and sovereignty was never ceded. There is no climate justice without indigenous justice.]

UniMelb staff and students are joining the Global Climate Strike called for Sep 20! We will be assembling at Wilson Hall for speeches, before marching down to the city to join the VIC student contingent and then the main rally at Treasury.

The only way to guarantee that this climate emergency is dealt with before it’s too late is to build a climate movement that spreads to every corner of society and is prepared to fight for the funding and climate jobs we need in renewable power, public transport, green manufacturing and education.

We’ll be joining thousands of students and workers who are walking off to send a clear message to the coal-loving, climate-denying Liberal Government.

The student contingent demands:
100% renewable energy by 2030
No new fossil fuels
Fund a just transition to climate jobs for all
