When did Victoria become one of the first places in the world to implement the secret ballot?
If you know the answer (or can make a good guess), then you’re probably know a thing or two about democracy and history… so we have the perfect event coming up for you!
On Wednesday 1st September from 6.30pm (via Zoom), the History Society will be holding its Annual General Meeting along with a special history-themed edition of ‘The Price is Right!’
At our AGM, we’ll be celebrating another successful year for the History Society and electing a new committee to take us into 2022. All committee positions will be up for election, including President, Secretary, Treasurer, Education Officer, and 3 x General Committee. Even if you’re not running for a position, please come along and partake in this festival of democracy! Only members of the club can run and vote, so make sure you sign up today (for FREE!) if you haven’t already: https://forms.gle/71RVXUiWvoCJ4ffz7. We’ll email out official notice of the AGM and more details about how to run for election in the week beginning Monday 23rd September. In the meantime, check our our role descriptions document for more information about each committee position (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X_CHLHulexCnoJQ5p6w9IT1B-xW6XiHf/view?fbclid=IwAR2V_d1N-G4lOzq_tH5UqiYSrwuBqwVHE8FN2ssy6M6kSr6uBtQExQww4Ww) and register your interest to run for election via this link: https://forms.gle/XF37TK6BrCYT8DWx8 (Note that this is not a nomination form).
Following the AGM, we’ll be hosting another edition of Historical ‘The Price is Right!’ You will compete with other AGM attendees to recall (or guess) the dates of a series of historical events. The winners will be rewarded with prizes totalling up to $100!
