History Society Film Screening: Persepolis (2007)

In lieu of a planned visit to the Immigration Museum that cannot go ahead due to the lockdown, the History Society will be screening a film about an immigrant – ‘Persepolis’ (2007), the true story of Marjane ‘Marji’ Satrapi and her coming of age during the Iranian Revolution. As a rebellious teenager and lover of punk music, Marji – along with her liberal-leaning family – finds herself in increasing danger as her country falls under the control of strict religious fundamentalists. The film features unique visuals mirroring the graphic novel upon which it is based and holds a 96% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The screening will take place on Wednesday 18th August from 7.30pm via Zoom (links below). The film will run for approximately 96 minutes, after which we will host an interactive discussion about what we have watched. We hope to see you there! BYO popcorn!
