Student artist needed for mural painting

Calling all student artists! The University of Melbourne  Creative Arts Department invites you to participate in an exciting and collaborative Interactive Mural Painting project as part of SummerFest 2025.

Event Details

  • Event Name: Interactive Mural Painting

  • Event Dates: 26th February - 28th February 2025

  • Event Time: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM each day

  • Location: [Campus Venue to be Announced]

Activity Overview

As part of SummerFest, we are thrilled to host an Interactive Mural Painting Project, where creativity meets collaboration. Over three days, a large-scale mural will come to life through the shared efforts of student artists and the wider campus community.

The project will be designed and led by a talented student artist (or artist pair). The artist will conceptualize and create a basic layout on a large canvas based on an agreed-upon theme and design. This layout will act as a creative framework, with clear areas and shapes for participants to paint, draw, and express themselves.

During the event, the artist will remain on-site to guide participants as they contribute their personal touches to the mural. This might involve painting a specific section, filling in spaces with colors, or drawing within the lines of the artist's layout.

While the participants bring their enthusiasm and unique strokes to the canvas, the student artist will ensure cohesion by adding finishing touches, refining details, and tying the contributions together into a harmonious, polished piece of art.

The final mural will be a stunning blend of individual contributions and the artist's creative vision, serving as a vibrant symbol of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit. It’s an opportunity to bring people together, foster connections, and leave behind a colorful legacy that reflects the diverse voices of the University of Melbourne.
