Musicians from all over the world will touch down at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in January for the Sugar Mountain festival. Previously hosted at The Forum in Melbourne, Sugar Mountain is considered “Melbourne’s most progressive music and arts festival”.
The festival will take place on Saturday 24 January. Artists featured in the festival include Nas, Body/Head, Odesza, Ariel Pink, Soul Clap, Horse Meat Disco, The 2 Bears, Anthony Naples, Swans, Dan Deacon, Terrible Love feat. Kirin J Callinan, How To Dress Well, Midnight Juggernauts MJX Pty Ltd, Bo Ningen, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizards, and Twerps.
Aside from its cultural significance, our new location immensely increases the scope of Sugar Mountain: we’re now a five-stage affair, comprising of three outdoor and two indoor stages, a massive increase in scale. The main stage will sit at the end of a closed Dodds St, with the Sturt St car park and Margaret Lawrence Gallery courtyard also being utilised. VCA’s Space 28 and Studio 45 will be home to some of the festival’s indoor offerings.
Tickets go on sale 9am EST on Monday 20 October. Head to sugarmountainfestival.com for more details.
