The University of Melbourne Student Union Inc. (UMSU) is an incorporated association and is recognised by the University of Melbourne as the representative body for all students. UMSU is responsible for a broad range of student representative, student engagement and student support activities.

We have an exciting Student Internship opportunity within our Communications, Marketing & Events Division at the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) for a Social Media Intern.

During this paid internship, you will work within the Communications & Marketing department, contributing to tasks including community management, analysis and strategic planning.

You will obtain experience in:

  • Safe management of a highly visible brand;
  • Community management;
  • Contributing to integrated marketing campaigns;
  • Creating original content for use online;
  • Crisis management;
  • Copyright and legal matters relating to social media;
  • Measuring and reporting on social media activity.

The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to work independently as well as contribute to successful initiatives, and as such a high degree of maturity and a strong professional interest in social media is required.

Applicants must be currently enrolled University of Melbourne students, preferably studying a course in Journalism, Communications and / or Marketing, however, students who possess highly relevant skills are also encouraged to apply.

This is a part time internship (8 hours per week, 0.23 FTE) from February to November 2022, with a salary of $66,796.75  (pro rata $13,359) plus employer paid superannuation. Some flexibility with working hours will be required.

The role will require flexibility to perform remote working as well as on campus as COVID restrictions dictate throughout the year.
