Returning Officer – Expressions of Interest Sought
The University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) is seeking expressions of interest for the appointment of a Returning Officer for the conduct of its Annual Election, with polling to commence on Monday September 7 and conclude on Friday September 11, 2020.
A by-election is also required for a number of positions, and is to be held prior to the conclusion of Semester 1, 2020. Positions currently subject to the by-election are:
- Education (Public) Officer
- Vacancies on the Indigenous Committee
- A vacancy on the Southbank Committee
- Vacancies the Burnley Student Association Department Committee
The Annual Elections are regulated by the UMSU Constitution and Election Regulations both of which are available here. The Electoral Regulations are subject to change, and revised, but unratified, Electoral Regulations can be viewed here.
Please note that the UMSU Constitution was amended in 2019.
UMSU has established the capacity for the electoral roll to be managed electronically, and at multiple polling sites.
The Returning Officer will also be required to conduct the UMSU International 2020 Elections which will be held from 6–8 May, 2020. The UMSU International Elections are to be conducted in accordance with the UMSU International Electoral Regulations which can be found here.
Expressions of interest are sought for the appointment of a Returning Officer to conduct all three UMSU elections to be held in 2020.
