Women’s Mentoring Network
The Women’s Mentoring Network is a professional networking group run by the UMSU Women’s Department which enables women to meet, talk and share experiences in a casual setting. The network groups undergraduate students with postgraduate women in their field and hosts networking nights featuring key note speakers for the group at large. Support and training is provided for mentors, an opportunity for leadership that will make them more outstanding graduates in the workforce. The mentors are a sounding board and possess a wealth of experience to share with mentees.

Bike Co-op Volunteers – Environment Department
Located in the basement of the John Smyth building, just off Swanston St, the bike-coop is a place to hang out, tune and fix bikes and have fun! Every Tuesday morning we have a wonderful bike mechanic in to help students learn to fix their own bicycles, along with tools, some parts, and our enthusiastic Melbourne Uni Bike Co-op volunteers.
Volunteers at the co-op will be trained in fixing and maintaining bikes, and will be in charge of helping and teaching others to do the same. As well as this, they will help the Environment Department run fun activities like tyre craft, bike rides and more.

There are so many events throughout the year that could not be possible without the help of volunteers so the more the merrier. We have a whole range of things we’ll need help with, whether it be flipping sausages at a BBQ, selling tickets to one of our many events throughout the year or helping us manage an event. You’ll get to meet new people, gain valuable skills and have the opportunity to receive certifications such as Responsible Service of Alcohol and Safe Food Handling.
It doesn’t matter how little or how much experience you have, we would love to have you on board!

Fossil Free Melbourne University is a student and alumni led group calling on the University of Melbourne to stop investing in the top 200 coal, oil and gas companies. By divesting from the companies standing in the way of action on climate change, the University can send a clear message to our political leaders that it is time to move beyond fossil fuels.
