Student Library of Things
Coming Soon: The UMSU Library of Things! ♻️📦
Borrow More, Buy Less, Waste Nothing!
The UMSU Environment Department is excited to launch the Library of Things—a free borrowing hub where students can borrow useful items instead of buying them! From tools and camping gear to kitchen appliances, board games, and more, the Library of Things will help you save money, reduce waste, and embrace a more sustainable way of living.
Why It Matters 🌏
Every year, students spend hundreds of dollars on items they only use once or twice. Many of these end up collecting dust—or worse, in landfill. By borrowing instead of buying, we can:
✅ Reduce waste – Fewer products mean less landfill and less pollution.
✅ Save money – No need to buy expensive items for occasional use.
✅ Cut emissions – Less production and transport of goods lowers carbon footprints.
✅ Build a sharing culture – Strengthen community connections through collective ownership.
How It Works 🔄
This initiative is based on the circular economy—a system where we reuse, repair, and share resources instead of constantly producing and throwing away. By keeping items in use for longer, we can help break the cycle of overconsumption and waste.
✨ Borrow what you need, when you need it
✨ Return it for someone else to use
✨ Donate items you no longer need
Get Involved!
We’re working on stocking up the library and would love your input! Let us know what items you’d like to borrow or donate pre-loved but still useful goods. Stay tuned for our launch date and be part of this exciting shift towards a more sustainable campus!
