Important Updates
1. WinterFest Microsite is LIVE! — Our little baby is out in the world

The WinterFest 2022 site has been launched. It's now live for all the world to see. Our eNews on Sunday asked our UMSU subscribers to save the date with a link to the site. It's official!  The site is the one-stop shop for all things WinterFest and will be updated when information comes to hand.

2. Acknowledgement of Country at UMSU Meetings — Guidelines and Resources

A reminder to staff that an Acknowledgement of Country is required at the beginning of every UMSU meeting or event – in-person or on Zoom.

If you need guidance writing an Acknowledgement of Country or want to learn more about Indigenous Cultural Protocols, you can access resources via the Intranet here.

3. Contacting the Events Team — Use the Shared Mailbox ONLY

Need to get in touch with our Events team? Please ensure you send any emails directly to the Events shared mailbox, rather than individual team members to ensure your queries aren't missed.

4. COVIDSafe Event Info — UPDATES!

In line with changes to government and University guidelines, the COVIDSafe Event Info page on the Intranet has been updated. Make sure to check out all the new details here.

5. REMINDER: Collectives for Semester 2 — Are your dates or locations changing?

The 'Request a Project form' will remain closed for the time being, but we're still here to support you with your continuing Collectives in Semester 2. If you need to update the artwork regarding dates and times (only), send the Comms Team an email and we can reopen the project for you on Basecamp.

Deadlines / Dates
6. Monday 20 June — IG Takeover Content DUE TODAY

Thanks to those peeps that have already notified Comms about wanting to take part in the InstaGram takeover for WinterFest.

  • We'll let you know when your takeover will be posted so you can align any activities planned alongside it.
  • Don't forget to keep on top of your socials inboxes for peeps sliding into your DMs after your takeover/reply to comments.
  • Use the momentum! Post your own content (or the most relevant snippets) on your own channels.

7. Monday 20 June — IT Audit DUE TODAY

As part of the move to the NSP, UMSU are undertaking an internal audit of all IT devices associated with the organisation, to get an idea of what we have and what needs replacing.

If you have a Uni/UMSU issued device, please complete this form by EOD today (Mon 20 June). A Uni/UMSU issued device includes any PC/laptops and associated peripherals (e.g. monitors, docks, etc).

8. Wednesday 22 June — Action WinterFest Basecamp Tasks

Reminder for departments working on Carnival Day events — as outlined in the Playbook, some tasks on Basecamp need your input / are assigned to you and need to be actioned by 22 June.  Be sure to log in to Basecamp and respond to your messages.

If you're having any issues, please reach out to Comms ASAP so we can support you!

9. ICYMI: Google Forms — Removal from UMSU website

As most of us know, Google has a pretty ick track record with data privacy and other online safety issues. As such, UMSU's standing recommendation is that we avoid using any Google surveys or forms to gather data—especially sensitive personal data that students entrust us with. Any Google docs or surveys on the website will have to be removed from your pages. Sorry!

If you think you need a Google form, please email Comms.

10. Need a job? — We got some!

UMSU currently has several job opportunities open at the moment. Check out the Current Jobs open on the website and send them out to people you think might be interested!

Winston the Wonder Dog— This is a serious Smoosh Dog hit

You may have met Carolyn at Info Desk's animal friend, Winston, at Union House over the past year. We thought you all needed a little Monday pick-me-up! Here is Winston posing adoringly with a furry animal fan, Skye. Have a great Monday! ??
