UMSU’s Host Program is all about welcoming new students to uni life here at the University of Melbourne. It’s a program run by students, for students, taking place on campus at the start of every semester during orientation week.

This year, we’re mixing it up a bit and combining powers with the Melbourne Peer Mentor Program to run fantastic faculty-specific campus tour all throughout Summerfest 2021 (O-Week)Our Volunteer hosts will be leading your Peer Mentor group through some icebreakers , take you on a student-led faculty-specific tour of the campus and make sure you check out the UMSU stalls along the wayWith tips about everything from academia to UniMelb’s best coffee places, the Host Program will help get you ready for uni life.

You’ll be included in a Host Tour as part of your Melbourne Peer Mentor Program, and we’re looking forward to meeting you! Keep your eyes peeled for your allocated Host Tour timings through your my.uniLife app.

To know which day you’ll be invited onto campus, the faculty specific Host Days will take place as follows in 2021:

Host Program Online!

Throughout SummerFest and semester one, the Host Program will be running fun virtual events and self-directed tours to help you meet other students and discover all that our vibrant campus has to offer.

To meet like-minded individuals, Host Program is collabing with all your favourite UMSU departments and collectives to put on virtual events in which you can chat to fellow students and discuss everything from your weirdest lockdown hobby to your favourite coffee spot on campus. These are casual, inclusive spaces to which you only need to bring yourselfan openness to meet other people, and maybe a cup of tea.

To prepare you for when we finally return to campus, virtual tours will also be available that will allow you to explore campus (or the union building) from the comfort of your home! Additionally, following O-week, recordings of tours will be available for you to viewing pleasureIf you find yourself walking through campus later on in the semester, keep an eye out for UMSU QR codes that will give you top tips about the coolest, iconic campus locations (and some fun facts to pull out at Ida Bar trivia nights).
