WEDNESDAY 24 to WEDNESDAY 31 MARCH | ENTRANCE GALLERY
In this body of work I play with the materiality of light, reflection and the notion of toxic light. Created are shimmering, reflected surfaces that haunt made up worlds and display eerily familiar scenes. New animals and objects emerge here in the time of mass extinction, imagined accelerated evolution, genetic engineering and unprecedented interference with nature.
Jessie Turner’s work focuses mainly around objects that have sometimes been called ‘obsessions’ ranging from balloons to bees. She mainly works in photography and sculpture and her still life photography focuses on fragmentation of perception.
