Titus Andronicus Set Projections: Alexi O’Keefe

The intention of this design was primarily to portray a dilapidated Rome. The first approach to this was via collage. Digitally arranged using a sheet of marked paper. As the design continued it grew more minimal and the dilapidation became that of the space itself, the set therefore became graffiti. And then in the end these two melded together, becoming the scenes of collage upon a brick wall, as though to become street theatre. The idea on stage was that the set would be formed entirely out of milk crates with these images projected behind it, making it feel very readymade, and allowing Titus’ violent themes to feel more apocalyptic.
