Binding Cyphers
Daniel Pilkington

Daniel Pilkington, ‘Binding Cypher’ (detail). Paperclip, 2021

The paperclip is a symbol of modern bureaucracy and thus of a disenchanted world. At a time when digitization threatens the general utility of the paperclip, Daniel John Pilkington has discovered an alphabet hidden within. In this exhibition he uses this alphabet to spell out a coded message, a charm against the boredom of administrative spaces, and the spiritless utilitarianism of the modern world.
