Hi everyone,

My name is Lushy Chinganya, your UMSU President for 2026!

Raised right here in Victoria, with a Zambian background, I’m also a biomedicine student who was involved in the POC committee in 2025!

Whether you’re new to campus (hello and welcome!) or returning for another year (welcome back!) UMSU is here to support you, and make sure you feel part of the fun and chaotic nature that is student life!

My biggest tip? There is a free food event somewhere pretty much every day... use that information wisely. Additionally, we have SO many fun things around campus, your future best friend could be waiting to meet you in line. So, if you’re wondering whether you should go to that event? Yes. Yes, you should. (And even if you’ve been here awhile, it’s not too late to get involved, trust me!)

As for me, my role of President is to be the voice for students! Come to me for anything! Any queries, concerns or even if you want to share with someone that you got a good grade! I’d love to celebrate even the smallest of wins with you too!

If you see me around, come say hi!
