Who keeps it all running smoothly? Meet Daniel!

My name is Daniel Motika and I’m your 2026 UMSU General Secretary! I am an Arts Student and this is my third year at the UniMelb. A big welcome to all the new students starting their uni journey this year and welcome back to everyone returning! While the UMSU President serves as the face of the organisation, the General Secretary is responsible for the internal operation of UMSU. I am responsible for governance and minute taking, publishing all communications, administering grants and much more.

I am an Arts Student and this is my third year at the UniMelb. A big welcome to all the new students starting their uni journey this year and welcome back to everyone returning!

While the UMSU President serves as the face of the organisation, the General Secretary is responsible for the internal operation of UMSU. I am responsible for governance and minute taking, publishing all communications, administering grants and many other things! Despite not being a public facing position, I still serve as a point of contact for students, particularly when it comes to complaints and other grievances.

As a student representative, I work with a large network of other elected representatives, volunteers and stakeholders to address the issues facing students.
