Welcome to the Melbourne University Tamil Sangam (MUTS)!

We are a student organization dedicated to promoting Tamil language, culture, heritage, and cuisine. We provide a sense of community and belonging for all students, regardless of their background. We host a variety of events and activities, including:

  • Cultural performances, such as dance, music, and theater
  • Social gatherings, such as potlucks, movie nights, and game nights
  • Traditional games, such as Kabaddi, Gilli Thandal, Pallanguzhi, Aadu Puli aattam, Nondi, Silambu, Goli, Dayakattai & lots more

Aims:

  • To promote the Tamil language, culture, and heritage, which are widely spread across the countries including India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia and Mauritius.
  • To assist the students coming from the Tamil community to get adopted to the new environment, and to integrate with the University and local communities.
  • To act as a representative of the Tamil community, and to offer social well-being, mental and emotional support in terms of academics and health.
  • To promote inclusive growth by connecting members with professional networks through social and cultural events.
