Everything Paper: a paper making workshop with Caspar Connolly

3/09/2026–3/09/2026
1:00 PM–3:00 PM
Arts Lab, Level 1, Arts & Cultural Building, (Building 159) University of Melbourne
UMSU Gallery

Brought to you by the SSAF

This workshop with artist Caspar Connolly will teach how to make paper from household and studio leftovers, covering pulping, fibre breakdown, and forming techniques for both sculptural and flat sheet works. The class will cover what paper is actually made from, how different materials break down into usable fibre, and how to blend leftovers into a workable pulp.

WHEN: Thursday 3 September, 1-3pm
WHERE: located on Level 1, Arts and Cultural Building, Monash Road, Building 159 (MAP), next to the George Paton Gallery.
RSVP NOW

Participants will learn how to represent the materiality of their offcuts and waste, and consider how ownership over materials changes what a substrate can become. Understanding fibre structure, pulp consistency, and how to form and shape pulp into sheets or forms will be a key focus in the workshop.
