Aidan Doyle and Amanda Negrin Sadka

18 September – 30 October, 2026

18 September – 30 October, 2026
Opening celebration: Thursday 30 October, 5-7pm

Our Friends brings together new work by Aidan Doyle and Amanda Negrin Sadka examining the relationship between the self and artificial intelligence. Through processes of repetition, translation and feedback, the artists place aspects of themselves and their experiences into generative AI systems. What emerges is an uncertain encounter in which the boundaries of the self become at once clearer and more difficult to locate.

Negrin Sadka presents portraits and painted plywood panels developed from photographs of women’s faces. Moving through at least three exchanges between AI generation and painting, each image is repeatedly interpreted and remade. Corresponding works face one another across the gallery, forming doubles that reflect on portraiture, representation and the stories told to and by the self.

Doyle’s screen-based installation uses AI-generated texts to analyse his university search history alongside open-source counterterrorism material. Two textual works flank a blank diagram, initially appearing stable before gradually receding into the screens over a 50-minute cycle. Informed by his father’s history as a military pilot, Doyle’s broader practice considers the connections between technology and politics, and how digital and physical materials can be repurposed toward ideological ends.

Together, the artists approach process as a means of intervening in their relationships with AI. Rather than treating these systems as neutral or autonomous, Our Friends considers how personal histories, social experiences and existing ideologies shape both human and machine behaviour.
