Chinese History and Garment Society

Chinese History and Garment society aims to promote sinology under the context of history and garments. Hanfu(汉服) refers to the clothing worn by the Han ethnic people from the ruling periods of the Three Emperors and Five Sovereigns to the Ming Dynasty. It was the traditional costume of the nation that represented the characteristics of the Han nationality.

For more than thousands of years, Han Chinese clothing has retained its simple and elegant style and we would like to share that with everyone.

Club Aims:

  1. To promote the understanding of sinology, Chinese history and Han garment.
  2. To preserve Chinese costume’s artistic style, design and craftsmanship.
  3. To provide opportunity for students to participate in the integration between sinology, Chinese clothing and modern lifestyle.
  4. To promote communication between students with a Han background and Han interests.
  5. To cultivate and uplift students’ minds and spirits which are distilled from ancient Chinese sports, ancient Chinese dancing, Chinese Tea Ceremony and Chinese make-up.
