Melbourne United Nations Society


Since its establishment in 2012, the Melbourne United Nations Society (MUNS) has emerged as one of the university’s most popular student clubs. Previously known as Melbourne International Relations Society (MIRS), MUNS attracts a diverse array of students from several different undergraduate and postgraduate faculties, it aims to promote student engagement in global issues through Model United Nations conferences and social opportunities. It also boasts a comprehensive Model United Nations training program, which has culminated in students receiving best delegate and diplomacy awards at numerous Model United Nations conferences, including Harvard WorldMUN. Whether you’re interested in pursuing a career in foreign affairs or diplomacy or are simply looking to get involved in something as incredible as Model UN, in an accessible and friendly environment, come and capitalise on all that the Melbourne United Relations Society has to offer with a membership fee of only $5!

Club Aims:

  1. To promote and encourage participation in Model United Nations conferences, hereafter referred to as “MUN conferences.”
  2. To provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for University of Melbourne students to participate in MUN conferences.
  3. To provide support for University of Melbourne students participating in MUN conferences via official society delegations, hereafter referred to as “UoM delegations.”
  4. To provide training for students interested in participating in MUN conferences, and ensure resources are readily accessible.
  5. To Encourage interest and participation in the studying of international affairs and politics through the organisation and/or support of non-partisan academic events, consulate tours, debates, networking sessions, internships, crisis councils and cultural events.
