Page to Stage – Design Lab

Part of Union House Theatre‘s Nora Creative Development Program

Co-hosted by UHT’s Allen Laverty & Clynton Jones
With special guest; Nora’s set designer Claudia Mirabello.

Join our friendly production team in this UHT staple – From Page to Stage, a design principles workshop that helps you unpack the process of designing a show from scratch.

Do you have a keen interest in developing skills to design for performance? Ever wondered how to take an idea and make it come to life? Using UHT’s production of Nora, A Doll’s House as a starting point for this semesters four-session design intensive workshop, we will be covering the skills and techniques you might need to bring the creative design concepts from the page of scripts to the realisation on the theatre stage. The workshops will cover all design disciplines: scenic, lighting, sound, audiovisual (projection) and costume, while discussing and exploring topics such as text analysis, the language of design, creative conversations, mood boarding, colour theory, designing for devised works, budgeting, materials and some theatre trickery.

No previous experience required.
