🌱 Writing Intersectionality into Policy with UMSU Women’s 🌱
After years of campaigning, the UMSU Women’s Department finally got the University to commit to writing a standalone sexual misconduct policy. In doing so, we have done consultations with the extensive student body, and made policy submissions that keep student experiences in the centre.
Often, intersectionality becomes another big “buzzword” used by corporations, without actually reflecting in policy and practice. This year, we successfully got the University to commit to intersectional practices in writing, but there is so much left to do.
Join the Women’s Department as we discuss how intersectionality must be written into everything – art, activism, media, academics and the likes, through clear policy, and strong follow up actions. We want to hear from you, about what representation looks like to you, and how to make lasting changes that make meaningful impacts on people’s lives.
