POLS20008 Public Policy Making
Available as Breadth? Yes
This is a popular 2nd year subject with Arts students and politically minded students as a breadth option. The subject offers a more technical and practical understanding of policy, as opposed to theoretical perspectives of politics itself. Students are given the opportunity to both critique and analyse policy, as well as creating their own. This is one of the few subjects to not be moved to Masters level during Melbourne Model transitions. As a consequence the tutorials don’t cover the lectures which are different to the readings content again. Having said that, it is a refreshing change for students who are tired of reading what they learned in the lecture only to cover it in discussions in their tutorials.
