Chemical Engineering Students Society

The official student club for Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering students. We run a variety of social, academic, and industry focused events throughout the year.

 

The Melbourne University Chemical Engineering Students Society (MUCESS) is the official faculty-based, student-run body for Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering students at the University of Melbourne. Students of the Chemical with Business, Biochemical, and Materials streams of Engineering are also represented. MUCESS is affiliated with the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU).

MUCESS was established in 1960 to foster a sense of belonging and connection amongs Chemical Engineering students. The club has maintained this sense of community through various social events, including an annual Cocktail Night, an interdisciplinary sports competition, regular lunchtime events and occasional trivia nights. MUCESS also meet students’ Academic and Career needs through election of Student Representatives and hosting an annual Industry Event.

Club Aims:

  1. To actively promote, develop, and foster a strong relationship between chemical engineering students at the University of Melbourne and leading figures/companies within the Australian engineering industry.
  2. To Hold activities, both academic and social, of such a nature as to interest and benefit the members.
  3. To represent the members in matters affecting their academic interests.
  4. To promote the welfare of members
  5. To be a forum for the expression of members’ opinions on matters affecting their welfare.
