The Program is structured into 4 conversational and interactive sessions in Semester One, covering a range of topics from curatorial models, the delineation between public and private context in relation to art praxis, and the growth of alternate exhibition platforms and Artist Run Initiatives in Melbourne. The intensive encourages students to think beyond the common knowledges and ‘criterions’ of the traditional white cube gallery space, whilst providing insight into the corresponding nature of curating and practicing artmaking simultaneously. Through experimental dialogues of writing, conversation and gallery visits, the intensive will conclude with a collaborative exhibition outcome.

Lilly Skipper is a Fine Arts, Visual Art Graduate (Victorian College of the Arts, 2022) currently undertaking her Honours degree. Lilly was co-Gallery-Administrator of the Artist Run Initiative Temporalities Gallery and was granted a collaborative residency at Testing Grounds Melbourne in 2022. Whilst maintaining a solo art practice, she has curated and exhibited in galleries such as George Paton Gallery, Assembly Point (Creative Spaces), Gallery Gallery Brunswick, Dungeon and Meadows, PLATFORM Gallery Geelong and Unassigned Gallery. She currently holds a position on the Youth Advisory Committee at the Heidi Museum of Modern Art and volunteers across various gallery spaces such as BLINDSIDE, Conners Conners and the Australian Centre of Contemporary Art (ACCA).
