Apollo Gala Night

A music soirée to remember!

Join us for an exciting night of music brought to you by Apollo Music Society’s Jazz Band, Strings Ensemble, and The Stranded!

Up first, Jazz Band transforms an eclectic range of genres into exciting jazz pieces. Vocals and instruments are combined to bring you movie favourites, R&B classics and, of course, jazz standards. They hope their performance will inspire you to question the typical aesthetics of jazz, and to recognise that music itself can provide a sense of ‘home’.

Next, Strings Ensemble presents moving traditional strings compositions, as well as renditions of some movie soundtrack greats. Classical music is often underrepresented in contemporary art festivals, and strings is here to contribute to the diversity of Mudfest and show all artists that they have a home in music performance.

Closing the night, The Stranded is super excited to show that the theme of ‘home’ is one held close to their hearts and heavily expressed in their indie-rock music. Simply described as ‘amateur musicians presenting something they truly enjoy doing’, The Stranded hopes to encourage unity and welcomeness within their university community while performing some nice indie rock for all to listen to.
