What?
Between August 26 – September 6, Farrago Photography (Farratography) will be hosting a completely free-to-enter, themeless photography exhibition on the level 3 grid wall of the Arts & Cultural Building which will be comprised of photographs from an open-call submission open now–which means any current university student studying in Victoria can have their work included!
Why?
This exhibition intends to showcase the work of students/alum of any skill level and from any discipline, and show that anyone can take photos. We want everyone to get involved and contribute to what will be a wonderful display of our collective creativity.
Submission Guidelines:
● All work must be submitted with the following file specifications:
- 300dpi (dots per inch)
- CMYK colour
- One of the following formats: .jpg, .png or .pdf.
● In the body of the submission email, all entrants must include their full name, student number and name of their university, the title of the piece(s), any relevant content warnings and an optional 50-words-or-less statement on their piece(s)
● Entries are open to any current/alum of the University of Melbourne, and any current university student studying in Victoria.
● No specific theme is required for the pieces submitted.
● Entrants may submit up to four pieces – due to the nature of the salon-style hang, pieces should be standalone and not rely on being part of a series.
● Submissions must solely be photographic works.
● Entries must be the creator’s original work.
● Pieces cannot utilise AI in any way.
● All artists will be credited by the name submitted. If you wish to assume a persona or pen name, this must be included in the body of the submission email.
● All entrants retain copyright over their work but agree that by submitting they grant the University of Melbourne Media Departments permission to publish their work in any format or platform.
Selection Process:
● Due to limited space and budget, Farratography may not exhibit all pieces submitted.
● Works will be selected and curated by Farrago Editors and Farratography Managers, with full consideration for all pieces.
● Farratography will be printing and displaying all accepted works at absolutely no cost to entrants.
What is a salon-style hang?
● A salon-style hang is a method of displaying art where numerous artworks are hung closely together, often covering the entire wall from floor to ceiling.
