Reels Club is an inclusive society that promotes "doomscrolling" in groups for an increased sense of community and fun, away from the monotony of university lectures and exams. Content creators, actors, and script writers  come together in Reels Club to create entertaining reels, and producing engaging short form content is also one of the club's aims. Although the Internet can be racist, sexist or homophobic, Reels Club does not endorse such content and aims to promote an inclusive environment for all doomscrollers, whether novice or brainrotten.

Club Aims:

  • To bring the University of Melbourne student population together by watching reels together and having reel "marathons" on a large projector screen.

  • To promote the sharing of digital-form short media content amongst University of Melbourne students, and in turn foster an online/offline sense of community and friendship.

  • To endorse the virtual creation and propagation of short-form videos under a minute for entertainment purposes.

  • To support like-minded content creators whether influential or aspirational on Instagram Reels/ Youtube Shorts or another similar platform and provide opportunities for collaborations/networking.
