Students of Royal Melbourne (STORM)

This is a club that is currently seeking affiliation. If the club's affiliation is not finalised, any memberships purchased through the UMSU website will be refunded.

STORM is a student-led society for students situated at or affiliated with the Royal Melbourne Hospital and/or affiliated institutes at the University of Melbourne. Our club aims to foster a supportive community, providing networking opportunities, academic support, professional development, and recreational events. Whether you’re a student interested in clinical practice, research, or public health, STORM is here to support your journey. Join us to meet like-minded peers, gain insights from mentors, and make the most of your experience at the University of Melbourne!

Club Aims:

  • To enhance the academic and professional life of all students within the Royal Melbourne Hospital academic centre and affiliated institutions, such as but not limited to, The University of Melbourne, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Melbourne Health, The Royal Women’s Hospital (the Women’s), The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), The Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, CSIRO, The Macfarlane Burnet Institute for Medical Research and Public Health (Burnet Institute).     
  • To provide academic support to fellow Honours, postgraduate, and AMS (Advanced Medical Science) students and thus foster communication of research ideas and collaborations.    
  • To represent the Academic Centre’s postgraduate students within the faculty and university as well as at national and international groups and institutions.           
  • To encourage social interaction of students within the department with frequent social events, activities, and functions.
