The Jewellery & Culture Society celebrates the beauty of jewellery as more than adornment—it is a bridge between cultures, histories, and personal stories. Our aim is to create a welcoming space where students can explore the artistry of pearls, crystals, wood, and beyond, while learning the cultural traditions that shape them. Through hands-on workshops like “Make Your Own Jewellery,” discussions, and cultural showcases, we invite everyone to string their own story and share their heritage. We value inclusivity, respect, and joy in learning together—everyone’s culture shines brightly in our society.

Club Aims:

  • To introduce student at the University of Melbourne to different cultural stories and symbolic meanings behind jewellery from diverse global traditions. With a multicultural focus on materials such as jade, sandalwood and agar wood.
  • To foster a welcoming and creative community where students from all displaces can experience jewellery as a form of self-expression, cultural connection, and emotional well-being.
  • To offer hands-on DIY workshops and events that empower students to design and crafts their own meaningful jewellery using ethically sourced, culturally rich materials.
  • To reinterpret traditional jewellery through a contemporary student lens-blending heritage, storytelling, and modern design in ways that resonate with today’s campus culture.
