We're the department club for Earth Sciences! A social space for anyone interested in the planet and how it works. We have trivia nights, BBQs, study sessions and fun get-together events.

We are the University of Melbourne’s Earth Science Student Society. Our members tend to be involved in the earth science streams of Geology and/or Meteorology but also includes engineers and other science disciplines, everyone is welcome. We host BBQ’s, trivia nights, an annual Ball and a number of other events often in conjunction with professional societies and industry.

Club Aims:

  1. To provide Earth Science students, particularly undergraduates with an entirely student-based, representative body that provides support and advice as well as an alternative means of voicing school issues.
  2. To promote interest and enthusiasm for the field of Earth Science amongst potential students, increase awareness of opportunities within the field and provide a welcoming environment for newly enrolled students.
  3. To encourage good communication and relations between departmental staff and postgraduate and undergraduate Earth Science students to aid in increasing school cohesion.
  4. To encourage new members, in particular first and second year students to take an active role in the future of the ESSS, to facilitate the long term management of the society and the pursuit of its aims.
