Who we are:
We are a campus group aiming to spread the ideas of Effective Altruism. Effective altruism is a philosophy and social movement that applies evidence and reasoning to the question, ‘using the limited resources that I have, how can I do the most good?’
Values:
Global empathy: The belief that all lives have equal value, regardless of their distance from us or their race, gender, sexuality or ability.
Cause neutrality: Rather than doing what feels right, we aim to consider all causes and actions, and then act in the way that brings about the greatest positive impact.
Cause prioritization: We aim to use evidence and reasoning to prioritise causes based on importance, neglectedness and tractability. Some popular cause areas in the Effective Altruism community include global poverty, climate change, existential risks and animal suffering.
