We are a student-operated club seeking to educate, train and immerse students from all disciplines in issues surrounding public health, with the ethos of "thinking globally, acting locally".

Melbourne University Global Health Society is a student-run club which seeks to educate, train and immerse students from all disciplines in issues surrounding public health.

In Australia and around the world, issues such as inequality, gender, and environment are among the main determinants of poor health. We believe that in order to meaningfully improve our society’s health, we need to educate students on the different facets of public health and empower them with knowledge and tools to act to improve them.

With the ethos of “thinking globally, acting locally”, we work to provide both education and outreach. We run workshops, volunteering projects and education programs, with a special emphasis on including community organizations.

We welcome undergrad and postgrad students from all disciplines! At MUGHS, we seek to gain insights from all fields and find connections between disciplines.

Club Visions:

  • Increase awareness of social and health related injustices around the world in Australian students
  • Provide opportunities for students to engage with global health efforts: thinking globally and acting locally

Club Aims:

  1. To promote the health and wellbeing of developing communities, in Australia and overseas.
  2. Increase awareness of social and health injustices around the world in Australian students.
  3. Provide opportunities for students to engage with global health efforts: thinking globally and acting locally.
  4. To provide a social community for its members.
  5. To raise funds in pursuance of any of the above aims.
